Divergent impact of urban 2D/3D morphology on thermal environment along urban gradients

چکیده
Optimizing urban morphology is an effective way to alleviate the thermal environment, and it has always been focus of planning. Although previous scholars have explored impact 2D/3D on Land Surface Temperature (LST), they rarely revealed differences along gradients, thus ignoring nonlinear relationship between LST. In this study, we use multi-source data such as night-time lights, Landsat 8, land cover, buildings, employ dynamic threshold, single-window algorithm, boosted regression trees methods reveal gradient marginal effects Results showed that proportion built-up (PCL), digital elevation model (DEM) normalized difference index (NDBI) important contribution Moreover, relative influence PCL, NDBI building density (BD) LST varies significantly which are +25.87%, +14.85% − 10.88%, respectively. Interestingly, found value each variable increased, its changed. For example, when PCL < ∼49%, negatively correlated with LST, so lowering can environment. Our findings inform sound practice planning by accounting for

The Effect of Urban Green Spaces on the Urban Thermal Environment and Its Seasonal Variations
Urban green spaces have been shown to decrease land surface temperature (LST) significantly. However, few studies have explored the relationships between urban green spaces and LST across different seasons at different spatial scales. In this study, using Changchun, China as a case study, landscape ecology and comparative approaches were employed quantitatively to investigate the effects of the...
متن کاملThe Impact of Urban Design Descriptors on Outdoor Thermal Environment: A Literature Review
This paper presents a literature review on urban design indicators addressing the impact of urban geometry and vegetation on the outdoor thermal environment at the pedestrian level, as urban geometry and vegetation have been regarded as the most influential urban design factors that affect outdoor microclimate. The thermal balance concept is first introduced to elaborate how each component of e...
متن کاملThe Impact on the Urban Environment of Incomplete Property Rights
It is generally accepted that delineating and enforcing property rights lead to a more efficient use of private property. Thai farmers with secure title, for example, are estimated to be 12-27 percent more productive than their untitled counterparts (Feder 1988). In urban areas the focus has been on the role of security of tenure in enhancing property values and incentives to invest in housing ...

متن کاملImpact of Population Growth and Urban Sprawl on Land Use and Forest Type Dynamics along Urban-rural Gradient*
In this study we applied a conditional logit model to determine factors affecting land cover change in three contiguous counties in West Georgia (Muscogee, Harris and Meriwether) during the period 1992-2001 and used this model to predict land cover changes during the period 2001-2021 based on the assumptions of population growth.
